Tenant’s rights in Foreclosure actions

Big thanks to Volunteer RICLAPP Attorney Dave Kreutter for routing this article published in the Providence Business News relative to tenant’s rights in foreclosure actions. The new law enacted in the last legislative session imposes a “just cause” requirement before tenants can be evicted from foreclosed properties. The article can be accessed on the link below:

Dave, who is also working in his own practice, provides great legal service to RICLAPP’s clients who are part of the vast under-served residents in Rhode Island and we are lucky that he devotes great time and energy in service to our clients.

Kudos to A.G. Peter Kilmartin

Our current housing/foreclosure crisis is made worse by vultures preying on the desperate. Fortunately, Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Kilmartin took action against one of these vultures as noted in the link here

People facing foreclosure must take care to contact only reputable firms to handle their case.  Mortgage modifications are complicated matters.  In this instance, the consumer was vindicated but this should remind all of us to be careful with who we do business.
